Merry Cellars’ Wines Win Gold

Merry Cellars’ 2005 Twilight Hills Red was awarded a highly coveted Concordance Gold at the 2007 Indy International Wine Competition. Merry Cellars’ 2005 Twilight Hills Red, their signature Bordeaux-style blend, is truly a Washington State wine.  Part Merlot, part Cabernet Franc and part Cabernet Sauvignon, it is saturated with sweet berries, vanilla, green tea and spice with hints of plum on the palate. Merry Cellars’ 2005  Stillwater Creek Vineyard Merlot and 2006 Stillwater Creek Vineyard Semillon also received Gold Medals in the same competition along with their 2005 Walla Walla Valley Merlot and 2006 Sauvignon Blanc taking home Silver. The Indy International Wine Competition, often called “The Wine Olympics,” is one of the largest wine competitions in the U.S. This year’s competition brought in nearly 3,300 wines from 17 countries to be judged by experienced wine experts from all over the US, Canada and Europe. Merry Cellars winery is located in the Old Post Office building at 245 SE Paradise St. in Downtown Pullman. For those interested in sampling these and other award-winning wines, the tasting room is open every Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 3-8pm.
