Spokane — Bruttles Candy Shoppe, with its signature soft peanut butter brittle, will be making its national debut on the Rachael Ray Show, set to air sometime in the next few weeks! Bruttles owner Carol Measel sent more than 100 bags, filled with 12 candies each, of her goodies to producers of the show, and after sampling different Bruttles candies, including caramels, turtles, chocolate-dipped delicasies, and of course, their hard and soft peanut butter and cashew brittles, her candies made quite the impression! Coeur d’Alene — CdA’s Annual mARTi Gras and Cajun Cook-off was yet another successful fundraiser for Art on the Edge. This was the best authentic Cajun Cooking in the Northwest! Participants celebrated the beginning of the Lenten Season a couple weeks late, but the fun-filled weekend of art for kids, fabulous Cajun cuisine and live blues and jazz entertainment warmed the festival goers and was a hit for kids of all ages!
Saturday’s events began with a kids art festival in the Coeur d’Alene Shops with music, pottery, painting and many other art-filled activities. The evening brought the adults out to celebrate at Coeur d’Alene Cellars Barrel Room, Cricket’s Bar & Grill, Brix and The Eagles Club, dining and dancing the night away. These generous chefs presented some outstanding Cajun food for the crowds:
Walla Walla — The first weekend of May will be the Spring Release Weekend, highlighting the first release of the new vintage. Walla Walla Valley winemakers will be introducing their new wines, as well as sharing the creative winemaking process. Visitors will be able to purchase a selection of wines, many of which can only be found at the wineries and tasting rooms.
Walla Walla — Come and join in on the First Annual Feast Walla Walla, a celebration of fine food, wine and art! Walla Walla’s historic downtown will set the scene for an afternoon of fun, with more than 50 vendors to include 16 restaurants and food purveyors, 29 wineries and 10 artists! Coeur d’Alene — Wheat Montana Farms Bakery & Deli recently opened two new locations: one in Spokane on the South Hill late last year, and one in Coeur d’Alene on Dec. 1, 2007. Offering sandwiches, pastries, coffee, fresh soups daily, wheat chili (made with wheatberries) and of course, wheat Montana breads! Their breads are as close to natural as possible, with minimal processing, not to mention chemical free.The Folkvord family, now in their third generation of farmers, still own and operate their family farm. The menu is Chicken Oscar (brest of chocken topped with asparagus), rock crab and sauce bearnaise, rice pilaf and dessert. A Night in Graceland will be held at Northern Quest Casino, located at 100 N. Hayford Rd. Cost is $25 per person.
