Five Sandpoint chefs working with Food Bank volunteers have organized the Food Bank Harvest Ball scheduled for October 11, 2008 at the new Ponderay Events Center behind Sandpoint Furniture. This culinary experience will feature an eclectic menu prepared by chefs from Ivano’s, Three Glasses, The Idaho Club, Peerless Catering and Pend Oreille Pasta. Wine will be contributed by Dave Vermeer, beer from MickDuff’s Brewing Company with food donations from Food Services of America. A cash bar will precede the event and dancing will be to the music of Carl Rey and the Blues Gators.

Spokane — Enjoy an evening of fun, friends, food and entertainment, with silent and live auctions offering incredible items, and healthy and hearty appetizers by D’Zaar Beverages. Highlighting the evening will be a humorous dramatic piece by actress/director Karen Kalensky (”Saturday Night Live” and ”All My Children”), with John Henry Whitaker (”Walker Texas Ranger,” “CSI” and “General Hospital.” Tristen Canfield will perform her winning piece for the prestigious American Academy of Dramatic Arts auditions. This event will be held at Spokane Interplayers Theatre, located at 174 S. Howard St.
Spokane — Enjoy a chocolate fountain with many treats for dipping, appetizers, wine, beer, music and auction. Proceeds from this event will go toward the Excelsior Youth Center, an agency that helps 12-17 year olds in their recovery from drug addiction, abuse, neglect and more. The Excelsior Youth Center also provides the youth with housing, counceling, treatment and education. This event will be held at the Service Station located at 9315 N. Nevada St. Cost is $20 per person.
Coeur d’Alene — The annual auction and fundraiser is their premier fundraiser to support the programs and services provided for at-risk children. The Children’s Village is a licensed residential home for children who are homeless, abused, neglected or in need of therapeutic treatment. This year’s theme is “I’m Proud to be an American.” The evening will include a large buffet with all the trimmings, as well as both a live and silent auction. This event will be held at The Coeur d’Alene Inn, located at 506 W. Appleway. Cost is $48 per person, $92 per couple, or reserve a corporate table of eight for $400.

Coeur d’Alene — The Spring Dessert Benefit Auction will be held at the Coeur d’Alene Inn, located at 414 Appleway. The proceeds from this event will go to Good Samaritan Rehabilitation for Women program. Spokane Valley — Babette’s Feast will feature 12 of Spokane’s top chefs, along with local wineries and breweries. Guests will enjoy hors d’oeurves, a five-course dinner, wine and brews. This event, to help celebrate National Nutrition Month 2008, is presented by the Greater Spokane Dietetic Association, benefits the Spokane Crosswalk Teen Shelter Programs. Location of this event will be at CenterPlace at Mirabeau Point Park, located at 2426 N. Discovery Place. Cost is $75 per person.
Coeur d’Alene — CdA’s Annual mARTi Gras and Cajun Cook-off was yet another successful fundraiser for Art on the Edge. This was the best authentic Cajun Cooking in the Northwest! Participants celebrated the beginning of the Lenten Season a couple weeks late, but the fun-filled weekend of art for kids, fabulous Cajun cuisine and live blues and jazz entertainment warmed the festival goers and was a hit for kids of all ages!
Saturday’s events began with a kids art festival in the Coeur d’Alene Shops with music, pottery, painting and many other art-filled activities. The evening brought the adults out to celebrate at Coeur d’Alene Cellars Barrel Room, Cricket’s Bar & Grill, Brix and The Eagles Club, dining and dancing the night away. These generous chefs presented some outstanding Cajun food for the crowds:
Airway Heights — This annual event, presented by the Boys and Girls Clubs of Spokane County, includes live and silent auctions and a four-course meal, with entertainment from local club members. This auction will be presented by Northern Quest Casino and Freedom Truck Centers. All proceeds go to benefit programs for Spokane’s disadvantaged youth. This event will be held at the Pend Oreille Pavillion, located inside Northern Quest Casino at 100 N. Hayford Rd. Cost is $100 per person.
Spokane — Enjoy a fun evening of cooking, learning to prepare Eggplant Parmesan. Sponsored by the City of Spokane Parks and Recreation Department, this event will be held at Tullia’s Sauce House, located at 1407 W. Mansfield Ave. Cost is $22 per person. Pre-registration is required for this event.
