Five Sandpoint chefs working with Food Bank volunteers have organized the Food Bank Harvest Ball scheduled for October 11, 2008 at the new Ponderay Events Center behind Sandpoint Furniture. This culinary experience will feature an eclectic menu prepared by chefs from Ivano’s, Three Glasses, The Idaho Club, Peerless Catering and Pend Oreille Pasta. Wine will be contributed by Dave Vermeer, beer from MickDuff’s Brewing Company with food donations from Food Services of America. A cash bar will precede the event and dancing will be to the music of Carl Rey and the Blues Gators.

Spokane — Enjoy an evening of fun, friends, food and entertainment, with silent and live auctions offering incredible items, and healthy and hearty appetizers by D’Zaar Beverages. Highlighting the evening will be a humorous dramatic piece by actress/director Karen Kalensky (”Saturday Night Live” and ”All My Children”), with John Henry Whitaker (”Walker Texas Ranger,” “CSI” and “General Hospital.” Tristen Canfield will perform her winning piece for the prestigious American Academy of Dramatic Arts auditions. This event will be held at Spokane Interplayers Theatre, located at 174 S. Howard St.
Spokane — “Spread the Aloha.” Enjoy a Polynesain menu to include Lalua Pork, Teriyaki Beef, Chicken Long Rice, Shoye Chicken, Macaroni Salad, Sweet Potatoes, Fresh Pineapple and Pineapple Upside-Down Cake. Entertainment includes a slideshow of Hawaii, tribute dance and various dances performed by students, staff and faculty. Dinner begins at 5:30pm with entertainment beginning at 7pm. This event is presented by the Whitworth College Hawaiian Club, Na Pu’uwai o Hawai’i. Spokane — Enjoy a chocolate fountain with many treats for dipping, appetizers, wine, beer, music and auction. Proceeds from this event will go toward the Excelsior Youth Center, an agency that helps 12-17 year olds in their recovery from drug addiction, abuse, neglect and more. The Excelsior Youth Center also provides the youth with housing, counceling, treatment and education. This event will be held at the Service Station located at 9315 N. Nevada St. Cost is $20 per person.
Spokane — To help benefit the Christian Youth Theatre, local clebrities, such as CdA’s deputy fire chief, news reporters, writers, chamber and city council presidents, and more, will dance the night away at the Bing Crosby Theater, located at 901 W. Sprague Ave. Cost is $15-$25 per person. Guests can vote for their favorite dancing couple by placing money in the basket of the couple.Â
Spokane — Enjoy an evening of champagne, chocolate and coffee samplings, and hors d’oeuvres. Guests will also enjoy live and silent auctions, as well as dancing to Six Floor Swing. This annual event benefits Lutheran Community Services Northwest’s SAFeT Response Center. The LCSN is for victims of violent crimes and their families, providing therapy, medical and legal advocacy, and education. The event will be held at the Red Lion Hotel at the Park, located at 303 W. North River Dr. Ticket cost is $50/advance, $60/door.

Coeur d’Alene — CdA’s Annual mARTi Gras and Cajun Cook-off was yet another successful fundraiser for Art on the Edge. This was the best authentic Cajun Cooking in the Northwest! Participants celebrated the beginning of the Lenten Season a couple weeks late, but the fun-filled weekend of art for kids, fabulous Cajun cuisine and live blues and jazz entertainment warmed the festival goers and was a hit for kids of all ages!
Saturday’s events began with a kids art festival in the Coeur d’Alene Shops with music, pottery, painting and many other art-filled activities. The evening brought the adults out to celebrate at Coeur d’Alene Cellars Barrel Room, Cricket’s Bar & Grill, Brix and The Eagles Club, dining and dancing the night away. These generous chefs presented some outstanding Cajun food for the crowds:
Walla Walla — Come and join in on the First Annual Feast Walla Walla, a celebration of fine food, wine and art! Walla Walla’s historic downtown will set the scene for an afternoon of fun, with more than 50 vendors to include 16 restaurants and food purveyors, 29 wineries and 10 artists! Airway Heights — An evening of fun and food to benefit St. Patrick Catholic School. The night will consist of live and silent auctions, dinner and an Elvis concert. The menu is Chicken Oscar (brest of chocken topped with asparagus), rock crab and sauce bearnaise, rice pilaf and dessert. A Night in Graceland will be held at Northern Quest Casino, located at 100 N. Hayford Rd. Cost is $25 per person.
