A Perfect Treat for Families: The Book & Bean

Coeur d’Alene — Owners Deborah and Hunter, the parents of two, opened the family friendly Book & Bean less than two months ago. This coffee house, featuring a large play area for children,  shelves of children’s books for purchase, as well as the usual coffee house set-up (adult tables and chairs), was a way for the couple to create a place where both parents and kids could go and feel at ease and … have fun! Moms and dads alike will enjoy taking the kids out, avoiding the stress of adult-centered coffee houses. They offer espresso for the parents, along with child-friendly snacks and beverages.

The Book & Bean is located at 3115 N. Government Way, Ste. #3, just south of Costco.

Coeur d’Alene — CdA’s Annual mARTi Gras and Cajun Cook-off was yet another successful fundraiser for Art on the Edge. This was the best authentic Cajun Cooking in the Northwest! Participants celebrated the beginning of the Lenten Season a couple weeks late, but the fun-filled weekend of art for kids, fabulous Cajun cuisine and live blues and jazz entertainment warmed the festival goers and was a hit for kids of all ages!

Saturday’s events began with a kids art festival in the Coeur d’Alene Shops with music, pottery, painting and many other art-filled activities. The evening brought the adults out to celebrate at Coeur d’Alene Cellars Barrel Room, Cricket’s Bar & Grill, Brix and The Eagles Club, dining and dancing the night away.
